We’ve updated and overhauled all ten classes in Valda’s Spire of Secrets for the 5E 2024 ruleset – and we’re giving it to you for free! The 244-page Class Update PDF lets you play your favorite characters with all the core components needed to bring them to the table:
- Weapon mastery properties for new weapons and firearms
- More fearsome allies for Familiars, Cohorts, and Thralls
- Revised and expanded Monstrous Grafts
- The entire Spire of Secrets Spells chapter, which includes new spells, tactfully cuts the least useful of the old lineup, and overhauls dozens of others.

If you own Spire of Secrets on MageHandPress.com, the Class Update has already been added to your account! Just go to the My Account page and download it!
The Class Update is also available via BackerKit if you backed Valda’s Spire of Secrets on Kickstarter!
It will also be included in any future purchases, so you can bring this definitive expansion to any table.
If you have any problems accessing the Class Update or questions for us, reach out to our Support Page and we’ll help you as soon as possible!
Compatible with the Dark Matter Megabox
This update is forward-compatible with Dark Matter, our science fiction expansion for 5E 2024, coming to Kickstarter on Feb. 3. Follow the Kickstarter so you can build sci-fi adventurers for Valda’s classes, including the Space Cowboy Gunslinger, Star Wolf Captain, and Lunar Magic Witch.

What’s new for each Valda’s class?
Every class has been revised with new core features, revamped subclasses, and expanded options. Some classes have been streamlined and made more powerful, a couple have been rebuilt from the bedrock. These changes sometimes represent updates in line with new rules elements, and other times reflect player feedback and design innovation. Here are the highlights:
Alchemist. The Alchemist class preserves the outline from 2014, but reworks each aspect from the ground up. The Alchemist’s Bombs deal increased damage and are more formidable against groups. The Alchemist can brew more potions each day and brew more powerful ones, and its Discoveries are entirely reworked and enhanced.
Captain. The Captain class gains access to more and better Maneuvers, and its Cohort options are expanded. Cohorts now use the Captain’s Charisma as an important stat.
Craftsman. The Craftsman class has been completely overhauled and streamlined, transforming from one of the most overwhelming classes to one of the sleekest. Its role as a crafter for the whole party has been expanded. Weapon masteries broadly replace exotic weapons and their bespoke properties.
Gunslinger. The Gunslinger’s maneuvers are more dangerous than before and it can use more maneuvers each day.
Investigator. The Investigator class’s core features have been reworked, now focusing on Finisher from an early level, making it more dangerous and versatile. Uses of Trinkets are more streamlined.
Martyr. The Martyr class has an expanded repertoire of new spells and is now more distinct from other divine spellcasters. Additionally, it can now sacrifice Hit Points to gain a bonus to any D20 Test.
Necromancer. The Necromancer class has new Undead Thralls and a reworked thrall progression. In addition, its spell list is greatly expanded.
Warden. The Warden class’s key features, such as its Guardian Tactics and Interrupt, have been expanded to make it utterly unique as a tank option. Moreover, its subclasses now have more diverse themes and more potent features.
Warmage. The Warmage class now deals guaranteed minimum damage whenever it casts a cantrip, and has a streamlined list of Tricks to draw upon.
Witch. The Witch’s Hexes are now cantrips, and it can now use Hexes more often alongside other spellcasting.

Has this update or will this update reach the roll 20 website? I’m looking to purchase Valdas for work and ease of access on roll 20 but only if the 2024 update is available on there?
Are your already created subclasses for the core 5e classes also updated?
Right now, this isn’t on Roll20, and it’s likely it won’t be until we do a full VTT conversion alongside a print run (late 2026 / early 2027). This includes only the 10 base classes, equipment, and spells, not the subclasses for the 12 PHB classes.
Are the physical books updated so if I buy one I will have it physically or is it only pdf updates?
Right now, this is just a PDF. We’ll be doing a Kickstarter and a print run for an updated Valda’s late 2026/early 2027.
I do own the content on Foundry, is there anyway I can have the pdf of the update?
I can also show proof of purchase if there is a way to send a screenshot, I just really look forward to seeing the updated classes
Hop onto the Support page and let us know! We don’t have the content *on* Foundry yet, but we’re happy to send you the Class Update if you already purchased the VTT.
Will this update also include changes to the subclasses of base game classes, such as the magic missile mage for the wizard?
Great question! This update doesn’t include those. It’s just the Mage Hand Press classes for now. We’re working hard on getting the rest of Valda’s redesigned for the new edition, but very likely those subclasses *won’t* be free in a similar pack. We plan to include them in a new and very expanded release of Valda’s.
Heya, I purchased everything on Foundry myself is there any way to get the pdf through that so I can utilize the updated content?

So excited to see that you guys are gonna convert vandals i was so happy to find your books after your pack on dnd beyond . The original has become one of my to go books . I cant wait to hear more about and support the eventual kickstarters . Hope you guys keep and expand your auxiliary class options it has been a great use to help players fit a theme that doesnt always mesh well with multiclass . Please keep us updated here and on your patreon
Thanks for the thoughts! It’s actually good to hear you bring up the Aux Levels, because we’re still deciding what to do with them. Across the board, players have appreciated the options but haven’t really utilized them in builds. My take is that we may simply need to go harder into them and bite off more ambitious themes.
Looks interesting, any chance of a Tales of the Valiant version? I bounced off 5e 2024 but would certainly get a ToV version.
Are these most updated versions of the classes included in the Complete Class PDFs, or are those still only as recent as their 2024 updates?
