Mage Hand Press is dedicated to creating the highest-quality content for 5th Edition in the world and we want you to be able to use that content! 

In the vast majority of campaigns, live streams, podcasts, editorial coverage and reviews, and social media posts, you will be able to use our content without prior permission or fear of overstepping legal boundaries. 

This Content Usage Policy outlines the terms and conditions for these materials and provides some links for Brand Assets, including our wordmark, logo, and brand colors.

Brand Assets

General Principles

  • Non-commercial use: Mage Hand Press content can be used only in original works for non-commercial purposes. You may not use our content for any commercial or for-profit activities. For example, this means you can use a Gunslinger in your actual play podcast or create a free adventure set in the Dark Matter universe without prior permission; such content can’t be locked behind surveys, subscriptions, email registration, or any other form of payment.
  • Streaming and actual play: Streams, podcasts, and videos (“actual play”) that feature Mage Hand Press content can still take advantage of sponsorships, ad revenue, and donations while using Mage Hand Press content, as long as doing so doesn’t prevent access.
  • Attribution: You must always provide clear and prominent attribution to Mage Hand Press, including a link back to the original post or product page.
  • No framing: You may not frame our content or embed it in your website or app in a way that suggests it is your own or that you or your content is endorsed by Mage Hand Press.
  • Derivative work: If you create something based on Mage Hand Press content, such as a subclass for the Gunslinger class, you must disclose that neither you nor your content is endorsed by Mage Hand Press. Such content must also follow the principles outlined above: it must be non-commercial and provide attribution.

Specific Permissions and Restrictions

  • Images and video: You may not reproduce images or videos for any purpose, with the exception of Brand Assets, detailed below. 
  • Text. You may not verbatim copy and repost Mage Hand Press content, whether or not that content is free. You may reference rules and content within Mage Hand Press products with proper attribution.

Prohibited Uses

  • You may not use our content in any way that is defamatory, hateful, discriminatory, or illegal. This means that Mage Hand Press content is not available within any material that promotes racism, homophobia, transphobia, or bigotry of any kind.
  • You may not use our content in a way that could damage Mage Hand Press’s reputation.
  • You may not use Mage Hand Press content to train generative AI.

We reserve the right to update this policy at any time without prior notice.

Brand Assets

As long as you follow our brand guidelines on this page, you may use our Brand Assets—including images and videos in the media kits below—without receiving permission in advance from Mage Hand Press.

Do not:

  • Use our Brand Assets in a way that would confuse someone into thinking that a product or item is made or endorsed by Mage Hand Press.
  • Use our Brand Assets in a way that would confuse someone into thinking that a website is run or endorsed by Mage Hand Press.
  • Alter, stretch, condense, overlay, stylize, or otherwise skew our Brand Assets in any way.

All other uses of Mage Hand Press’ Brand Assets require our prior written permission. This includes any use of Mage Hand Press in a domain name. We retain the right to revoke these permissions for any reason or for no specified reason.
