Monster
Notes from the Thumb: Here he is in all his creepy glory, just in time for any D&D Halloween spectacular sessions, the source of so many 90s kids’ nightmares, the star of his very own 2017 reboot film, the creature of the Deadlights himself, IT! The stat block here is for Pennywise in particular, but his signature ability, changing into any terrifying shape he wants, means that you have a good chunk of the Monster Manual at your disposal. And the awesome thing about the way he transforms is that he keeps all his base abilities in the new form! Happy Halloween from all the Digits!

IT

An ancient, nameless terror from beyond the stars, the monster known as “It” feeds on the psychic energy generated by primal fear. This alien being is a sadistic predator, terrorizing its prey mercilessly before dealing a killing blow.
Horrid Shapeshifter. It possesses a number of supernatural powers, from detecting thoughts and generating fear in a victim to shapeshifting into nearly any terrifying form It wants to. Combined with its potent illusion magic, survivors of its attacks tell stories of being unable to tell what was real.
Harmless at a Glance. It’s favorite disguise is that of Pennywise the Dancing Clown, a male human dressed like a circus clown. It uses this disguise to get close to its favorite victims, young children, as their minds are far more impressionable, and therefore, easier to break.

Innate Spellcasting. It’s spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 17). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:
At will: thaumaturgy, charm person, command
3/day each: detect thoughts, fear, suggestion
1/day each: greater invisibility, major image

Actions

Multiattack. It uses its Deadlights and makes one bite attack.
Change Shape. It magically polymorphs into a Huge or smaller creature that has a challenge rating equal to or less than its own, or back into its true form. It reverts to its true form if it dies. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying is absorbed or borne by the new form (It’s choice).
In a new form, It retains its game Statistics and ability to speak, but its AC, movement modes, Strength, Dexterity, and special senses are replaced by those of the new form, and it gains any statistics and capabilities (except Class Features, legendary actions, hit points, and lair actions) that the new form has but that it lacks. Additionally, It gains any equipment the new form would have, such as weapons or tools, until it reverts to its original form.
Deadlights. It shows the horrid lights within itself to two creatures it can see and that can see it within 15 feet of it. Each target must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or take 6d10 psychic damage and be stunned for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the condition on itself on a success.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 26 (5d8 + 4) piercing damage.

Changelog: 11/1/17: Charisma decreased to 21 (skills adjusted accordingly)
